Position Summary
The IT Systems & Network Technician is a mid-level IT professional responsible for maintaining and improving hospital technology infrastructure. This role goes beyond Helpdesk support to include system maintenance, network monitoring, security awareness, and direct technical tasks, while collaborating with the Helpdesk and Network Engineer to ensure a reliable and secure IT environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform regular updates, patches, and maintenance on servers, workstations, and network devices.
• Monitor network performance and system logs to identify issues or threats.
• Assist with network administration tasks, including troubleshooting switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
• Assist in monitoring cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
• Help enforce security policies and best practices.
• Provide Tier 2 support for escalated issues from the Helpdesk.
• Collaborate with Helpdesk to resolve end-user issues and improve support processes.
• Work with the Network Engineer on projects, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Install, terminate, and test data cabling and network drops.
• Rack and mount equipment as needed.
• Maintain accurate inventory of all IT hardware, software, and licenses.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, network diagrams, and SOPs
• Assist in compliance efforts (security, HIPAA, internal IT policies)
• Assist in onboarding/offboarding technical equipment and accounts.
• Participate in IT projects and provide hands-on support during upgrades or system changes.
• Perform other IT duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and desktop support
• Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, cabling standards)
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in a small team environment.
• 2-3 years’ work experience
Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
• CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+
